[OC:26] Desktop - Installation (English)

Please note: The OC patch is an inofficial modification (so called "MOD") for the discontinued desktop edition of the game "Ski Challenge 16". This is a fan project, developed and provided by the community for the community. The OC is not operated by Greentube GmbH or Ski Challenge GmbH, but rather it's independently operated by the HAPPYTEC community. We're not affiliated with Greentube GmbH or Ski Challenge GmbH!





OC:26 Desktop (English/Deutsch)


OC:26 is an inofficial patch for the game SC:16. Therefore SC:16 must be installed first if this has not already been done in the past.
If you've already installed a patch from previous seasons, you can install the new version without reinstalling the game.

SC:16 Original:

• Windows: SkiChallenge16_v2.exe (455 MiB)
  
  Compatible with Windows Vista, 7, 8.x, 10, 11, ...
  Should run on almost any hardware from the last decade.

OC:26 Patch:

• Full edition: oc26-patch.exe (216 MiB)
  
  
• Minimal edition: oc26-patch-lite.exe (35 MiB)
  
  The LITE-Installer doesn't contain alternative fence colours (green & grey) and no modified ad signs.
  Please note that you can now also select the original fence colour (red/blue) in the regular installer!

    If you can't or don't want to use the patch installer, download the ZIP file.
    For everyone else the patch installer is a better and much easier solution!
    
    
  • PlayOnLinux script: oc26.pol (13 KiB)
    
    There's also a ready-to-run POL script for Linux users. Tested at Debian/Ubuntu.
    All necessary EXE files will be downloaded during the installation.

    There's also a ready-to-run Lutris script for Linux users. Tested at Debian/Ubuntu.
    All necessary EXE files will be downloaded during the installation.

In principle, we always recommend using the patch installer described here!
If you prefer to install manually, you can download a ZIP file in the first post.


Instructions for Windows (English/Deutsch)

If a previous year's version is already installed (e.g. OC:25), please skip directly to step #3!

1. Download the file SkiChallenge16_v2.exe and execute it.
   
   
2. "Use custom installation" and remove the check mark at "Run Ski Challenge 16"!
   
   
3. Download the file oc26-patch.exe - or - oc26-patch-lite.exe and execute it.
   
   
4. Now OC:26 can be started. The game is now in the well-known OFFLINE mode.
   
   
5. Follow this guide to play online: Activate ONLINE mode

Optional: HTGT.app

• Download and install OpenJDK 25, or alternatively Java 9 or newer. Afterwards download the HTGT.app.
  
  
• Now run the JAR file. Don't forget this step after the first start: Server » Change API token

It's highly recommended to use PlayOnLinux or Lutris! There are two installation scripts available for this purpose.
If you prefer to install it yourself, e.g. using Wine, you can basically follow the installation instructions for Windows.


Instructions for Linux (English/Deutsch)

1. First, 32-bit support must be installed for Wine. Under Debian or Ubuntu, this can be done with the following commands:
   
   
   Code:

   sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 sudo apt update sudo apt install wine32

   
   
   
2. The following section is only valid for PlayOnLinux:
   
   
   1. Download the file oc26.pol.
      
      
   2. Use the package manager to install playonlinux.
      
      
   3. Starting with Ubuntu 24.04 you also need the python3-pyasyncore package!
      
      
   4. Start PlayOnLinux, then navigate to this menu item: Tools » Run a local script
      
      
   5. Select the previously downloaded file oc26.pol and follow the instructions on the screen.
      Sometimes you have to adjust the size of the dialog box a little to see all the menu items!
      
      
   6. As the installation method, this entry should be selected in the corresponding step: Download the program
      
      
   7. OC:26 can now be started via the new desktop link or within the PlayOnLinux window. The game is now in the well-known OFFLINE mode.
   
   
   
3. The following section only applies to Lutris:
   
   
   1. Download the file oc26.yml.
      
      
   2. Install the lutris package via the package manager.
      
      
   3. Start Lutris, then click on the + button in the top left corner to add a game.
      
      
   4. In the dialog box, select this entry: Install from a local install script
      
      
   5. Select the previously downloaded file oc26.yml and follow the instructions on the screen.
      Just click on Continue or Install in the top right corner until everything is complete.
      
      
   6. OC:26 can be started directly from the Lutris window after installation. The game is now in OFFLINE mode.
   
   
   
4. Follow this guide to play online: Activate ONLINE mode

Optional: HTGT.app

• Install the package openjdk-21-jre, or any other Java release. Afterwards download the HTGT.app.
  
  
• Start the JAR application via the context menu. Don't forget this step after the first start: Server » Change API token

New features this year (English/Deutsch)

• The game will show a countdown for the last nine minutes of the race.
  
  
• There are now three different shirt colors for the start number! (Blue/Green/Gray)
  
  
• There is a new ℹ️ button in the in-game rankings that displays various track details.
  
  
• In addition to the start/end date and race details, you can see the current HoF record and your own OC pB, among other things. For group races, all details are also displayed, showing what is allowed or prohibited in the respective GR.
  
  
• There is a new game mode: Double Run (Doppellauf)
  
  This is similar to Time Attack, but works a little differently. It is designed for all weather types so that you can complete approximately two runs. Unlike Time Attack, even every single meter of distance after the last checkpoint counts for your result.
  
  
• New features for gamepad and joystick control:
  
  
  • Joy2Key is largely obsolete! Buttons can now also be assigned for steering and acceleration.
    
  • Unnecessary assignments can be removed and set to “None” so as not to waste any buttons.
    
  • The value of the sensitivity slider is now also displayed in text form (%) next to it.
  
  
  
• New features for the SUC (Standup Cup):
  
  
  • The SUC is now also integrated into the in-game race calendar and is highlighted during the race.
    
  • SUC races can now also be conveniently started via the xTC button and the Participation button.
    In this case, only steering is possible; the buttons for acceleration and jumping are automatically disabled!
  
  
  
• New features related to group races:
  
  
  • There are several new GR options...
    
    
    • The helmet camera can now be enforced in GR in any game mode, not just Extreme.
      
    • Regardless of this, the HUD elements can also be hidden in any game mode when using the chase cam.
      
    • The GR options Crashing and Missing gates can now be set separately and independently of each other.
      
    • Driving backwards to the finish line can now be enforced or prohibited.
      
    • The use of ghosts can be disabled during a GR.
    
    
    
  • There are some new features when using the participation button...
    
    
    • All GR options are evaluated in real time and not just at the end of the run when the ghost is uploaded.
      
    • GR with a fixed ski no longer causes the ski settings to be permanently saved.
  
  
  
• And, of course, numerous minor and major improvements and bug fixes under the hood.

Activate ONLINE mode (English/Deutsch)

ONLINE mode means: It's not required to use the HTGT.app anymore for the most common tasks.
The game is communicating directly with the HAPPYTEC server, you're able to login like long ago.

1. Start the game and expand the player profile at the top left corner. (Arrow Down Icon)
   
   
2. Click at button Login or New Account and enter username/password of your HAPPYTEC account.
   
   
3. If you're seeing ONLINE at the top right corner, HTGT.app isn't required anymore.
