Old SC versions: Tracks unavailable

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but I am sure that you are the right person to answer it !

Since we had two weeks "off" before Val Gardena, I decided to "break the routine" to try to download some old Ski Challenge versions, especially the ones with "new" (at the time !) tracks, such as the one in Whistler Mountain, used for the 2010 Olympics.

I got all the versions since 2007 but, unfortunately, I can only practice on one track (Beaver Creek) in 2010, as the others are unavailable (they were updated, one by one, at the time).

It is strange since I have access to all the tracks, for example, on the 2008 version (with that O.K - Oreiller/Killy track, in Val d'Isère).

Any suggestion of why it does not work ?

Maybe try another edition from a different country. FR and IT files are much smaller?

I've sent you my personal SC:10 files via PM, try ORF or DE edition.

I just tried to download the DE version and it was better than the French and the Austrian, as I was able to access Beaver Creek, Val Gardena, Bormio and Wengen.

But, unfortunately, no luck for Kitzbühel and... Whistler Mountain !

I think the different sizes in the foreign versions depend on the date they were downloaded. Since tracks were only available, after the end of the competition on a particular track, that might be why...

Maybe, someone on your site, has a version with access to all the 2010 tracks, especially that Whistler Mountain Olympic downhill, which was only present that year.

Is there any way of leaving a message for help ?

I have a French version from 2010 and started this version from a directory (Windows 11) and also drove Whistler (scary ride... several crashes ). Everything was problem-free, except for the exit. That only worked by logging out of Windows. Now I've also tested the version of Big Pizza 2010 in German. You can drive Whistler there too. However, in both cases I had to start the updater first (which didn't do anything) and then exit it straight away. Only then could I start the Game.exe... for whatever reason. BigPizza is just over 9MB and the French version is 4.5MB

First of all, thank you so much for looking into my "problem" !

After reading your message, I tried to download both versions again and ended up with the same results : on the French version (which I don't like too much as the colors of the flags are too light and hard to see against the snow...), I only have access to Beaver Creek, whereas on the DE version, I have four tracks available (up to Wengen) but no Kitzbühel and Whistler Mountain in sight !

When I install the game, it runs updater for a little while (just like you mentioned), even though the time remaining does not move, and I end up clicking on skip to continue. Then, it checks for the best configuration before I can have acess to the main menu. But, once I am trying to play offline, I can get past what I mentioned above...

The only thing that we have in common is trying to get out : it takes a little while but, after hitting a few keys, here and there, I am able to close the game.

Are you also installing the Game Alarm ? I don't think it has anything to do with why it is not working, so I still don't know what I am doing wrong... unless I got an incomplete version !

Speaking of that, I found a site on which, apparently, you can download the COMPLETE game, but I don't have a Twitch account to do so.

P.S. Glad that you had a chance to try skiing down Whistler Mountain. Even though that downhill is quite short, it is pretty fast and has plenty of blind curves and a few bumpy areas, hard to negociate, the first time around.

P.S. (2) As I mentioned in my previous message to killerbees19, I like, from time to time, to go back and try other downhills no longer available on OC25, such as Are, Chamonix, the other Val d'Isère downhill (besides the Face de Bellevarde) and... Whistler Mountain. And, for the fun too, skiing down on the giant of Beaver Creek or the slalom in Munich.

I don't have an installation file, but the complete installed directory. You can unpack it anywhere and start it directly, including Whistler. I can send you the German file...as I said...the zip-file is just over 9 Mbyte

Keno mentioned, in one of his previous messages, that he was able to ski on the Whistler Mountain track in both the French (!) and German edition !

I sent the files to Killerbees webspace. I think he will tell you where to download them. Then they might be available to others who want them. These Versions haven't to be installed. You can start them from a stick or every directory you want.
